Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, attacking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- Kattigan knows the region and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as key figures in House Halovar could enable the party enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to head to the remote area in search of the traitor.
